My name is Jim Vossen, born and raised in San Francisco in 1949. During my early teenage days I always fantasized about being a radio DJ. It wasn't until I was 25 when I got involved with a community television channel in Pacifica, California where I did a video radio show. Using the name given to me by my guy friends when I was 16, I gave birth to the Vossenova Show. For the next three years the Vossenova Show could be heard and seen throughout Pacifica every Friday and Saturday nights from 7 to 11. Playing 'Oldies But Goodies' and the latest Top 40, I had a listener's club of over 2,000 members.
It wasn't until 1995 while going through a divorce after 25 years that I decided to seriously work on my broadcasting ambitions. I brokered a Friday and Saturday night, 7 to 3 in the morning, radio show on AM 990 KATD, Concord, California. The Vossenova Show was on KATD, The Cat, until 2000 when the station was sold to a Spanish Broadcaster.
In 2003, I moved to Monterey, California to be involved with AM 1240 KNRY, located on world famous Cannery Row. Besides managing KNRY, on Friday and Saturday nights from 7 to 11, I did The Vossenova Show. In 2011 KNRY was sold to the Catholic Church.
I love the music of the 50's, 60's and some 70's and for many years I have taken my music and equipment on road to different events and enjoy doing so.
Since about 1994 I have been honored to do the music for Joe Bailon's Blast from the Past in Auburn, California. Joe Bailon is the guy who invented Candy Apple Red paint and his yearly car show is one of the best around.
Again, let me bring this Great Music to you. (831) 236-5994
